BBC News AJAX widget
The BBC have a new AJAX-powered widget on their news page (might be different for non-UK viewers): BBC News
You can select various snippets of news and create your own content based on many of their sub-regions; in this example i chose "Coventry/Warks" & "Somerset" local news and "English Rugby Union" from the sport section. The local weather is displayed by default.
It's a pretty cool little widget, although it's a little bit annoying having the content reload every time the page refreshes: I think it would be better if the server served up a 'static' page with your selected content rather than the widget + your settings and then loading the widget content. I guess their current implementation requires minimum coding within their existing system so this is a nice way to test it out.
